2009 is HISTORY!!!

The year 2009 is a very "historic" year for me and my wife. It started out really well... I was inducted fellow of my medical society, inducted as a certified specialist in another medical society. My wife was also recently inducted as diplomate of her medical society as well late last year. Our 3rd baby, Daryl, was born to us just this March, and is hands down the greatest blessing for us this year.

This year, I was appointed several functions in the hospital where I work in, which is also something good for us. I was able to start a private clinic, continue my teaching/professorial job and at the same time continue my functions on the hospital. And yes, I was able to go to Coron, Palawan this summer at almost no expense for me. God is good all the time.

All was well. We were fine. We were doing good. And then, just like a flash of lightning, it struck us down to our knees...

First, Ondoy came. Flood waters rose to waist level in our house, which was never flooded in more than 60 years of its existence. Two of our cars were submerged; one was repaired and in running condition now; the other is still non-operational because the computer box was damaged. Yet, we still had a lot to thank God for, we were still blessed compared to the other Ondoy victims.

As we were still trying to recover from Ondoy, we suffered probably the greatest blow we could ever receive. As most of you have read in my previous posts, my wife underwent an operation for a breast mass just recently. Though we pleaded to God that the mass turn out benign, histopathological results showed otherwise. Long story short, she underwent 7 hours of surgery and is scheduled for chemotherapy starting this January. My wife is recovering from the surgery quite well, though she still has some residual pain and weakness in her right shoulder and arm and forearm.
Praise God because we believe and claim that Joann is now disease free. We now pray that Joann will endure the side effects of the chemo treatment, and also for financial provisions for the medications.

And just 1 week after my wife's surgery, i got into the car accident i recently blogged about. It wrecked my dad's car but by God's hand of protection i was not injured.

So 2009 was both good and a very painful year for us. But that year is HISTORY. It's done, and finished. We can't rest on the laurels of our accomplishments, and we can't dwell in the sorrows of our pain for what happened.

It's the first day of the year 2010. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has ever conceived what God has prepared for us this year. We pray for a deeper relationship with our God and a powerful manifestation of His presence in our lives as a family.

In all that has happened, and in all that will happen, God be praised, for God is still God, and Jesus is still Lord!
